The Client

The Innov8rs Unconference is a 6 week event for corporate innovation, hosting over 90 workshops, plus weekly peer circles and community events.

The Brief

The conference team needed a Miro board to support a-synchronous knowledge during the event. There were 3 key areas of the space:
- Meet your Peers: Enable cohorts to add their LinkedIn profile and a few extra details so they could all get to know each other better
- Questions and Answers: Defining core topics that cohorts want to address, and facilitating a way for moderators to officially answer them in one place
- Insights: A worksheet per workshop to gather the key take-aways from each session

Visually the Miro board needed to be
- Visually simple but still stylish
- Reflective of the brand
- Easy to understand
- Easy to navigate

Co-designing the experience

All designs start with discovery, whereby we map out the needs and desires of both the cohorts and the business. We branch out ideas into how we could fulfil those needs, and what types of spaces and visuals would be most relevant

I used Miro to collect the briefing information, propose concepts and present the wireframes.

The Outcome

The final design culminated in :
- a single entry point that signposted users to the 3 main areas of the board
- each distinct area had its own linking system that helped users easily navigate to relevant content across the board
- a simple but impactful design that felt clean, airy, but professionally styled

Questions & Answers

A 3 step method to gather and answer questions that crop up throughout the conference. Moderators move the questions from 'Pending' to 'Answered' as and when the topics are covered,

Insights

For each workshop, the facilitators have a worksheet where participants can log their thoughts, key take-aways and further resources during the session. This means that a large-scale knowledge hub is created. Whether you attended a session or not, you can still benefit from the debriefs available.
